Angaza Resource Centre Brings Learning Opportunities to Vulnerable Children in Kibuli and Kabalagala

Vulnerable children in Kibuli and Kabalagala now have access to reading materials and ICT classes, thanks to the newly established Angaza Resource Centre.

The centre is managed by 40 Days Over 40 smiles Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing literacy and learning resources to under served communities. Through this initiative, 40 40 aims to increase school enrolment, enhance retention, and improve access to quality education for all children.

Empowering the Next Generation

Speaking at a media breakfast event held at the Angaza Resource Centre in Kibuli, Gloria Mbabazi, Head of the Resource Centre Program, highlighted the centre's impact. "We currently support about 80 children daily, primarily from four primary schools in Kibuli and Kabalagala," she noted. "Children keep coming in, even those not from our partner schools. As we train the children, we also engage teachers in ICT sessions because they are always with the children in schools."

Mbabazi further explained that although the centre does not follow a strict curriculum, they have developed schedules that integrate life skills training, with a strong focus on ICT. "Our goal is to equip both students and teachers with digital skills that are crucial for today’s learning environment," she added.

A Dream Realized

Esther Kalenzi, Founder and Executive Director of 40 Days Over 40 smiles Foundation, shared that the Angaza Resource Centre had been a long-time dream for the organization. "We realized that many children don’t have access to books, and the schools they attend often lack libraries," Kalenzi explained. "We may not have all the resources we need, but we started with what we have—40 computers. It’s incredibly rewarding to see children and teachers coming in every day, eager to learn."
