MAKING FAMILIES: BOY REUNITED WITH FAMILY

Samuel was 5 years old when his mum started experiencing mental health challenges. After a while, she was no longer able to take care of Samuel and the boy had to be placed in an orphanage. Samuel's mother never recovered and he spent the next 6 years living in institutional care without his family. This is where caring people like you stepped in. Child’s i social workers looked for Samuel’s family and found his uncle by placing an ad in the local newspaper and reaching out to local communities in Tororo to gather information. Samuel's great aunt and uncle both knew about Samuel but had no information about where the boy was. When they learned that with the support of our social workers they would soon be able to take Samuel home, their eyes were full of joy, I wish you could have seen it! Because it wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of people like you, people who believe children should grow up in families. Samuel has now been living with his family for just over a year. He says he's happy being at home. “I like running, playing with my cousins and riding my bicycle,” he says.
