Children should embrace media for purposeful use in today's digital and challenging world.
This call was made by Mr. Jude Ochwo, the director of studies at Kingstone High School in Kawempe, during a media club school engagement organized by High Sound for Children.
Mr. Ochwo emphasized the importance of students using media for academic purposes that align with their educational goals, rather than solely for leisure, which could potentially lead to negative influences.
"Students must stay informed about current affairs both within our country and globally. The world has become increasingly scientific, and much of this knowledge is accessible through media," Mr. Ochwo added.

Members of the school's Media Club expressed appreciation for the skills and knowledge they gained, particularly in areas such as online safety and the responsible use of social media.
Mawejje Akram Kiryowa, a club member, remarked, "I have learned that sharing personal information on social media platforms is not good for our safety; it can attract scammers."
Mr. Ivan Ssenabulya, the Communications Manager in charge of programs at High Sound Organization, highlighted the importance of these media club activities for children. He noted that they equip young people with essential media skills and empower them to discern what is beneficial or harmful while encouraging them to speak out on issues affecting them.
